Lincoln, NE – State Senator Kate Bolz, candidate for Nebraska’s First Congressional District, announced the formation of “Veteran’s for Kate,” co-chaired by Charlene Ligon, USAF – Retired, Dustin “D.J.” Jennings, USAF – Separated, and James Harrold, USAF – Retired, that will advise Kate on veteran’s policy and engage veteran voters in the district. The group plans to hold a Town Hall style event later this summer.

“I have known Kate Bolz for several years, she is passionate and humble, yet she is a fighter when she needs to be,” said Charlene Lingon. “I am proud to Co-Chair Veterans for Kate because I know that Kate will always look out for veterans and their families in Congress, unlike Congressman Fortenberry.”

“Senator Bolz has been a strong leader in the legislature and welcoming representative of her district. She’s open to new ideas, asks tough questions, and will represent all of district one well, regardless of party or political views,” said D.J. Jennings, Veterans and military families Caucus Chair for the Nebraska Democratic Party. “I endorse Kate Bolz’s run for Congress to represent Nebraska and Offutt Air Force Base and am eager to work with her on issues affecting service members and their families.”

“As military members, we took an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Most of us served under both parties’ leaders, and whether we agreed or disagreed with them, we knew that they were committed to the Constitution and those serving. With his silence on investigating Russian bounties on American service members, Congressman Fortenberry has shown he’s willing to put party above country, which is unforgivable,” said Jim Harrold. “We believe it is time to put someone in office who will represent our district and do the hard work of standing up for Nebraskan and American values. We believe that State Senator Kate Bolz is that person. As veterans, we want to see honor brought back to our service. We are proud to serve as “Veterans for Kate” and will work hard to make sure that Nebraska has a Congresswoman of integrity and courage.”
